Who We Are:
Building Roots provides learning support services tailored to meet the needs of every child and family. The goal of Building Roots is to build confidence and skills in your child's learning so they can succeed in any education setting.
Building Roots serves all students from Pre-k - 8th grade through:

With a background in Elementary Education, Special Education, Montessori training and Orton Gillingham training, all lessons incorporate techniques from mulitiple teaching methods that complement the needs of each student. Programs are individualized, engaging, successful and fun! Tell us more about what type of learning support you are hoping for, and we will start on a plan to help you get what you need.
Tutoring Lessons
Offering both individual and group tutoring sessions. Build connections and target skills with personalized lessons in any subject area of need.
Learning Pod
Come join our Montessori-Based learning pod for our youngest students!
We are a small, in-home group of learners who explore Montessori inspired works and instruction. We spend time in the great outdoors with nature play and seasonal themes.
Open to ages 3-6.
Learning Groups
Come join a small group of students to learn! OR Do you already have a learning pod or homeschool group you would like teacher support in?
Specialized Reading Instruction
Trained in Orton Gillingham and Foundations of Reading. I provide specialized reading support to accomodate for all types of readers.

Meet the Teacher
Alix Breiling
Hi, I'm the founder behind Building Roots. I have a passion for teaching and making sure each student gains the skills and confidence they need to thrive. I am a certified Maine teacher and have over 10 years of teaching experience in Montessori schools, traditional public schools and special education. I graduated from Endicott College with a BA in Elementary Education in 2009 and completed training courses at The Montessori Center of the Rockies in 2017. I am certified in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), trained in Orton Gillingham phonics and literacy, and Foundations of Reading. I am a certified children's yoga teacher through ChildLight Yoga, and a certified Reiki Level 2 practioner. Over the past three years, I have been tutoring and providing varieties of educational support for families both remotely and in person. I love the individual connections I've made with students and their families! I also incorporate my love for learning, by teaching my own children at home with others in our Learning Pod.
Through Building Roots, I bring my unique background and education into each and every lesson with students. My belief is that strong connections and confidence are at the root of learning. I have seen so much success when students get the individualized support they need. My goal is to meet your child where they are at, and help guide them to grow and prosper in their learning.
